The festival will be screening short films made by young people from 19 Countries, from all over the world, including Russia and Brazil. Schools and colleges in Denbighshire and Conwy will be invited to the screenings. The festival will also welcome guests to Prestatyn from 14 Countries.
Festival Directors Jonathan White and Rhiannon Hughes says ‘We are delighted to be working with so many International partners and to welcome so many International Festival directors and young film makers to Wales.’
As well as screening short films, the festival will also screen two features including the film Moon Dogs ‘A Stylish and Sexy Scottish Coming of Age Story’ directed by Philip John from Newport, South Wales.
After the screening, on Friday 23rd September, the audience will have an opportunity to discuss the film with the producer Kathy Spiers and actors Tara Lee and Christy O’Donnell. The film will be screened at Rhyl Little Theatre’s new Pop Up Cinema, Wicked Cinema starting at 6.45pm.
The second film, the documentary Ambulance ‘A powerful first person account of the 2014 war in Gaza’ by young director Mohammed Jabaly from Gaza, Palestine. This special screening will be at Theatre Colwyn on Wednesday 21st September and will start at 7pm. The film will be followed by a Q and A session hosted by David Gillam from WOW Festival with Hermann Greuel from Norway, one of the film’s producers.

‘We are delighted to bring two excellent and very different films to Wicked:16. The anarchic, coming of age drama Moon Dogs was recently awarded Best International First Feature at the Galway Fleadh and featured in the Best of the Fest at Edinburgh International Film Festival. The raw and powerful documentary Ambulance screened to great acclaim at Sheffield Doc Fest and has gone on to secure other screenings in London. It’s a real coup for our festival that we’ll be able to screen both films in Rhyl and Colwyn Bay respectively.’
