FHW Chapter Learning Resources

Film Hub Wales commissioned Chapter, Cardiff to create a set of educational resources to support life long learning and young audiences. Find out more about the project here.

Each resource is available to download and use in your venue. They include a list of materials required and in the case of the craft activities, a rough estimate of materials costs.

This portfolio contains a number of resources that can be used to run workshops and learning/engagement sessions centred on the 2018 Aardman Animations film, Early Man. They are aimed at two age brackets; 5-8 year olds, and 9-12 year olds.

Each activity is inspired by themes or practical techniques contained in the film and its making, and the emphasis is on providing a fun, creative and informative atmosphere to explore these.

Running activity sessions like these can enhance a young persons’ film-going experience, and are an excellent way of encouraging engagement with a venue.

Sanctuary is a film that deals with a number of important issues, and gives the opportunity for post screening discussions regarding Intellectual Disabilities and the law. This resource provides some useful information regarding the context of the films production including a transcribed interview with the film director, screenwriter and creative consultant. Contained within this resource is also a list of Arts and Theatre Companies listed by regions, which work with people who have Intellectual Disabilities. If you are planning a post screening Q and A, a post screening discussion, or an introduction then these contacts would make ideal panelists or guest speakers.
