Synopsis

At 30 years old, Yuki Rodrigues, classical pianist, endures a neuromuscular lesion that keeps her away from music for 15 consecutive years. In 2022, she decides to get back to her true passion, music, recording an album in which she presents herself as a composer for the first time and preparing to return to the stage.

João Ganho was involved in the whole process of production of the album, until its release in November, 2023, and guides the whole visual narrative of his directing debut documentary about Yuki setting her music as a baseline.

Onto Yuki’s original themes, João Ganho builds Play it Again, Yuki from interviews and the album recording and post-production scenes, in a 75 minutes ode to resilience that captivates audiences by the closeness in which the main character’s dilemma, trauma and fear sound surprisingly so familiar to them.
