Created in partnership with pioneering climate action organisation Julie’s Bicycle, this Environmental Sustainability Online Course shows cinemas how to meet the climate crisis head-on.
This course is for anyone working in film exhibition, from small independents to larger cinemas and multi-arts venues. In it, we review the importance of addressing the challenges presented by the climate emergency, showcase inspiring case studies from industry leaders, and provide you with key tools and tips to help you develop your organisation’s environmental sustainability policies and action plans. Throughout, you will find additional links to further resources and guidance.
By the end of this course, you will have learned:
- Achievable and low-cost options cinemas can implement right away
- How to promote biodiversity in your venue
- How to achieve Net Zero for energy-related emissions
- How to ‘green’ your food offer and move away from plastic products
- How to measure impact and establish aspirations for improvement
- How to communicate your organisation’s vision with your audiences
During the course, you’ll also hear case studies from HOME in Manchester, Mammoth – A Climate Action Cinema in Nottingham, and Depot in Lewes.
The course takes approximately four to five hours to complete, and lifetime access costs £100. All the lessons are pre-recorded, so once enrolled you can complete the course at your own time and pace. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate documenting your achievement.
Cost £100 (Film Hub Wales members can apply for a bursary to help with costs)
