ICO Green Cinema Toolkit

Want to increase your cinema’s environmental sustainability? Climate change is an existential threat, and the need for urgent and far-reaching action has never felt so real. To help cinemas make better and more environmentally sustainable choices, the Independent Cinema Office have created a free Green Cinema Toolkit in collaboration with Julie’s Bicycle for anyone working in film exhibition. No matter the size of your venue or festival, you too can make a difference.

This guide was created in partnership with Julie’s Bicycle and ICO’s colleagues at Curzon CinemasDepot a HOME.

Included in the toolkit:

  • A review of climate change issues
  • Inspiring case studies
  • Top tips for a green cinema
  • Regulations and legal obligations
  • Links to further tools, guidance and resources

To accompany the launch of the toolkit, the ICO are holding two free half-day courses on ‘Making Cinema Environmentally Sustainable’ in London (18th March 2020) and Leicester (25th March 2020).
