Story / Narrative: The Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras is informed by the mythology and ghost stories of Wales, in particular the The Mabinogi. At its heart, this is a film about a dragon. The red dragon is a symbol of national pride, strength and unity, but in local myth, dragons often hold more ambiguous and even nefarious significance. The film was shot in Rhuthun – a place steeped in historic – as well as mythical and folkloric – significance and ancient Wales is still evident in the numerous cairns, burial mounds and Iron Age hillforts in the mountains above the town, all of which are central to the film’s identity.
