Sound of Cinema is the 2027 BFI FAN UK-wide season – celebrating the sonic half of the cinema-going experience and how it works with visuals to create a unique, dynamic and immersive whole. 

Taking place May – October 2027, the season will mark the centenary of synchronised sound which gave birth to the cinema experience we now all enjoy.

The season will showcase those game-changing films whose soundtracks uniquely work with the moving image to create a distinctive cinematic experience as well as exploring how musicians and directors have continued to push the cinematic sonic boundaries.
