Film Hub Lead Organisation
Set up by artists in 1971, Chapter is an international centre for contemporary arts and culture. It’s a hub for the production and presentation of world-class, inventive and compelling work. Their gallery commissions and produces exhibitions of the very best in national and international art. Their theatre spaces are a platform for experimental and thought-provoking work. Their cinemas offer independent and challenging films alongside a range of unique festivals and events.
Alongside the core programme, it’s also home to 56 artists and creative companies who are based in their studios. From award-winning animators and film production companies to artists, designers and photographers, and bespoke art framers, print and recording studios, the creative community are at the heart of everything that they do.
Their programme and community collide in the award-winning Caffi Bar that seats around 120 people and is a great place to meet up with friends, find a quiet spot to work away from home, or tuck-in to a tasty plate of freshly prepared, locally sourced food and drink from their extensive menu.

Film Hub Wales supported projects:
- Stanley Baker, Zulu Retrospective:Over the summer Chapter celebrated the 50th anniversary of Zulu and paid homage to this Welsh great. Read more.
- Laugharne Poetry and Film Festival:As part of the Dylan Thomas 100 celebrations, Chapter partnered with Cadw for a weekend of film screenings, poetry readings and stop-motion animation workshops set in the beautiful castle grounds. Read more.
- Wales wide Supportive Environment Screenings: Chapter worked with Contact to produce Supportive Environment Screenings for Wales wide venues. Read more.
- Dementia Friendly Venues Pilot: A collaboration between Chapter Arts Centre, Film Hub Wales and Cardiff University, this programme of events, curated by Dr Katie Featherstone, explored contemporary social and cultural developments and the ideas found within new-release, cult and classic film, with a focus on understandings of the mind, human behaviour, memory, the life-course, and ageing. - Dementia Awareness Pilot: The three venues are working together to develop a sustainable model of enjoyable and inclusive events that will encourage people with dementia, their carers and the wider film audiences to come together to explore their love of film in Wales. Read more.
- Lifelong Learning and Young Audiences: A project working to create and deliver multiple life-long learning resources around a range of relevant new release films, along with in venue workshops for audiences, education training events and online video tutorials for members. Read more.
- Cultural Leadership: As part of their role as Film Hub Lead Organisation for Wales, Chapter works with Film Hub Wales and the BFI Film Audience Network to develop as a cultural leader in Wales. Read more.
