In Dreams are Monsters: A UK-wide season charting how the monsters of horror have evolved, made physical the anxieties of their times, and how we react when faced with the monster within.

Led by BFI, supported by National Lottery, BFI Film Audience Network and the ICO. The season ran from October – December 2022, coinciding with two big screen horror re-releases – the 40th anniversary of Tobe Hooper’s all-time horror classic Poltergeist (1982) and the 20th anniversary of Alejandro Amenábar’s double BAFTA nominated The Others (2002), which featured a chilling performance from Nicole Kidman.

Programming and information:

  • The season was supported by The Independent Cinema Office (ICO) who offered a booking menu of related titles at negotiated rates, available to book for film screenings. While the season has now ended, you can view the menu title and find programming inspiration via the ICO website.
