Rural Community Cinema

Sunday 13th March 2016
Hay-on-Wye, Parish Hall, Lion Street, HR3 3AB

Running a community cinema or film society can be hugely rewarding, but often involves a lot of hard work. One of the best ways to pick up tips and new ideas is to compare notes and share experiences with others. That’s why Film Hub Wales have teamed up with Flicks in the Sticks, Cinema for All and Moviola to offer two special sessions:

  • Getting the best out of your sound equipment and acoustics (a common challenge for community exhibitors and film societies) and projection tips. (10.30-11.30am)
  • Refreshment break
  • What matters most to rural film exhibitors in Wales? Networking and discussion. What support is on offer? (11.40-1.30)
  • Followed by lunch reception in Tomatitoes (38 Lion Street) (1.30pm-2.30pm)

Festival info: Make the most of the Hay Festival of British Cinema (run by our hosts at Borderlines), which we highly recommend. There will  be a weekend of films on offer in Hay, including the Picturehouse Mobile Cinema and Booths Bookshop Cinema. The full film schedule will be released later in January here.

More information about the sessions will be circulated prior to the event, with accommodation suggestions.

Bursaries are available from Film Hub Wales to support attendance at the meeting and the festival. If you are not yet a member of Film Hub Wales, you can join for free here.

Please let us know if you require transport from Hereford station. You may include this in your bursary request, or we may arrange joint travel if there are numerous requests.
