Develop your Film Audience

Perhaps you want to attract young audiences to your film festival, or make your regular cinema programme more accessible. If you want to develop an audience for British or international film but need some financial support, or training, this page tells you how to submit a proposal to us.

Browse the project and skills strands below and make sure to read the guidelines and submission forms carefully for each one to make sure you meet the criteria.

Our support programmes cover...

This is our main FHW audience engagement strand with an average of two open calls annually. Access support for British/international film programmes, young audiences, inclusion or film heritage.

Access support for screenings that celebrate Welsh identity, language and culture or find out how we support filmmakers.

Part of our audience development programme, this strand is open to film festivals running British and international film programmes.

If you want to attend a meeting, course or event that would benefit your organisation and develop audiences but the costs are prohibitive, you can submit a proposal for support.

Each year, we or the wider FAN curate themed seasons that tie in with national programmes or opportunities. Members can access support to programme these titles.

Each year, BFI FAN support four new releases that deserve to be seen on the big screen.

Discover the latest titles from across the globe, submit a film for consideration, or get support for your screening:
